DISGENET Version 24.4: What’s New?

DISGENET, the largest and most extensive gene-disease association network, has released version 24.4, which means new functions and features designed to support your genomics research.

DISGENET version 24.4 includes:
  • Advanced Search
  • Disease Enrichment Analysis
  • New Sorting Options
  • Chemical Associations

With these changes, we continue to provide the DISGENET community with reliable sources, accessible data, and actionable tools all within one single platform.

Advanced Search

The DISGENET web interface now supports advanced searches for up to 100 entities, including genes, diseases, variants, and chemicals. So you can easily perform bulk searches without needing to use the REST API.

Disease Enrichment Analysis

You can now find key diseases linked to your target genes with disease enrichment analysis. The new REST API endpoint allows you to determine which diseases are significantly linked to a group of genes. This new functionality is also available via the disgenet2r package (disgenet_enrichment) and the DISGENET Cytoscape App.

Sort Your Results Based On What Matters Most

New Parameter: order_by

The new order_by parameter in the REST API and lets you sort GDAs and VDAs by key factors such as DISGENET score, DSI, DPI, year of publication, and number of supporting publications or clinical trials. Easily prioritize your results to focus on the most relevant data for your research.

You can also leverage this new parameter if you are disgenet2r user using the functions below.

Chemical Associations Made Easy

New Parameter: chemical_association

The new chemical_association parameter allows you to identify relationships between genes, variants, diseases, and chemical entities. This feature helps uncover key chemical interactions, supporting drug development, repurposing, and biomarker discovery.
